The educational DVD version of People of a Feather includes both 90 and 52 minute versions of the film, 34 minutes of special features and PDF access to the accompanying Educational Package (also available in print). The educational package includes lesson plans that further explore Inuit culture, technology, filmmaking, the ecology of sea ice ecosystems, and energy solutions that work with the seasons of our hydrological cycle.

It includes an educational license with limited performance rights for internal organizational use where admission is free of charge (e.g. classrooms).
